Mevo® Stream Guide

GameChanger Live Broadcast · Volunteer Setup Walkthrough
👋 Hello Volunteer — thank you for setting up the stream today! Parents and family watching remotely are counting on you. Follow these steps in order and you'll be live before first pitch. The whole setup takes about 10–15 minutes once you know the drill.

Phase 1
Prep & Mount — Do This BEFORE Touching the Fence
1
PREP
CAM

Power On & Plug In First

⚡ On the ground
The weather case makes ports hard to reach once mounted. Do all of this with the camera in your hands:
A
Press and hold the power button on the Mevo Start until the LED glows. Wait ~10 sec to fully boot.
B
Plug the power cable into the USB-C port on the back of the camera.
C
Plug the Lava microphone cable into the 3.5mm audio jack on the back. Make sure it clicks fully in.
💡 The LED ring glows solid white when ready. Flashing = give it 15 more seconds.
ON FIRST Do all of this BEFORE mounting on fence

FIND
SPOT

Find the Sweet Spot on the Backstop

Walk to the backstop fence directly behind home plate:
Height: Just above where the umpire's head will be — high enough to clear heads, low enough to see all three bases.
Left/Right: About 1 foot to the right of home plate center for a clear view of the batter's box.
Fence Point: Find an X intersection of the chain link — that's where the Fence Clip will clamp.
ABOVE UMPIRE ~1 FT RIGHT OF PLATE CLAMP TO X INTERSECTION
3
MOUNT
CLIP

Clamp the Fence Clip & Mount the Camera

A
Open the Fence Clip jaws and hook them around the X intersection. The clip should grab both wires at the crossing point.
B
Tighten the large knurled knobs firmly. Give it a light tug to confirm it doesn't wiggle.
C
Screw the Mevo Start (already on from Step 1) onto the clip mount. Hand-tighten only — do not over-torque.
D
Route the power and mic cables down along the fence toward the ground. Let them hang loose.
LENS
SAFE

CRITICAL: DO NOT POKE THE LENS THROUGH THE FENCE

READ THIS
A batted ball will destroy the camera if the lens sticks through a fence opening. After mounting, crouch down and check from the batter's side. The lens must be flush with or behind the fence wire. If it's poking through, push it back.
⚾ If a foul ball hits the fence hard during the game, immediately check the iPad to confirm the camera view didn't shift.

SHADE
GEAR

Place EcoFlow & Hotspot in the Shade

🚫 Not on the fence
Do NOT hang the EcoFlow, Nighthawk, or iPad on the fence. Direct sun causes thermal shutoff mid-game.
A
Place the EcoFlow battery on the ground in shade — under the scorekeeper's chair or inside a padded bag.
B
Place the Nighthawk Hotspot right next to it.
C
Run the long power cable from the EcoFlow up the fence post to the camera. Let it hang loose.

6
ECO
FLOW

Turn On the EcoFlow Battery

A
Press the power button on the EcoFlow. The display lights up showing battery percentage.
B
Press the AC/DC output button to activate the port the camera cable is plugged into. The Mevo LED should stay on.
C
LED blinking or off? Double-check the power cable is fully seated at both ends.
🔋 Below 20%? Grab the orange backup battery instead — same cable, same port.
7
HOT
SPOT

Turn On the Nighthawk Hotspot

A
Press the power button on the Nighthawk Hotspot. Wait ~30 seconds to connect to the cellular network.
B
Confirm at least 2 signal bars. "No Signal"? Move it a foot or two and try again.
C
On the iPad, go to Settings → Wi-Fi and connect to the Nighthawk's network. Use the hotspot, not cellular — it's more stable for streaming.
Phase 3
iPad Setup — Check the Angle, Then Go Live
8
CHECK
ANGLE

Open Mevo App — Verify the Camera Angle

📱 iPad stays with you
The iPad stays with the scorekeeper. Never set it on the fence.
A
Open the Mevo App. It will auto-detect the camera on the Nighthawk network.
B
Tap the camera to open the live preview.
C
Confirm you can see all three bases and home plate. If not, walk to the fence and physically tilt/pan the camera.
D
Once the picture looks right, close the Mevo app.

Open GameChanger — Go Live

A
Open the GameChanger Team Manager app on the iPad.
B
Navigate to your team's schedule and tap today's game.
C
Tap the camera icon or "Go Live" button.
D
When prompted for a camera source, select "Mevo."

You're Live — Setup Complete!

The red "Live" badge is showing. Parents can watch right now. Stay aware during the game:
👁
Glance at the iPad every few innings. Live badge gone? Tap Go Live again.
After any hard fence hit, check the iPad to confirm the view is still pointing at the field.
🔋
EcoFlow below 15%? Switch to the orange backup battery.

💡 Pro Tips for Volunteers
Audio check: Play back 30 sec right after going live. Muffled or silent? Check the Lava mic 3.5mm jack isn't fully seated.
Hotspot before GameChanger: Connect the iPad to the Nighthawk before opening GameChanger or it may stream over cellular and drop.
Shade is everything: Both the EcoFlow and Hotspot will throttle or shut off in direct sun. Under a chair is perfect.
Foul ball check: After any hard fence hit, verify the field view on the iPad. Pointing at sky? Walk to the fence and re-adjust.
Setup time: First time ~15 min. After your second game you'll have it down to 8. Steps never change, just the speed.
Battery backup: Orange battery is Plan B. If EcoFlow is dead, swap to it — same cable, same port, same result.
